Turning Your Pain into Power

Image
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore,  for the former things have passed away (R evelation 21:4 ESV)." T he journey of life has many twists and turns. There are times when a turn leads us to a place of pain. But, we have the ability to used that pain to catapult ourselves to the place of power. The loss of my younger sister was very painful. She unexpectedly died. I was hurt, cried for days, and thought my chest would burst open from the pain of her departure to be with Jesus.  Not only was she my sister, but my friend. Someone you couldn't help but love! She was loving, kind, compassionate, and caring.  I don't know a sweeter person than my sister, Janice (or JanBaby as our family referred to her).  She started singing at the age of three. You could feel the power of her love deep in your soul, down to your "bones", when she lifted her voice, and breathed o

God Doesn't Err and Trouble Doesn't Last Always

Your life has many winding roads and complicated stops.   Jesus said, "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world (John 16:33)." When you read the verse, your thought might be, "If Jesus has overcome the world, why does my world feels so broken?" In t he circle of life we have beginnings, endings, and everything in between.  The ebbs  and flows of life bring waters of both joy and pain. But, with God's guiding hands, it flows in a way that moves us upstream to a place of peace, blessings, rest and trust.  You may walk through the great darkness ravine, but you will get through it, because God's got you!    We are overcomers in mind, spirit and soul. Whatever you are going through, it too shall pass.  L ife may not be fair, but God is fair.  Psalm 56 , the psalmist declares to God, “ You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they

Does God Care?

Image
As I write this blog, I am thinking about how much God loves and cares for us even if we don't feel it.    The prophet, Habakkuk questioned if God cared about His people, because they were  suffering under the Babylonian dominant imperial power and cruelty.  Habakkuk is one of the twelve minor prophets.  A "minor" prophet means the prophet's revelation and report from Lord was short. Habakkuk's  first complaint was,   "How long, O Lord, shall I cry out and you not listen. Shall I shout to You, "Violence!" And You not save! Habakkuk 1:2"   He is asking the Lord, do you care about us? We are suffering! Have you every felt like the LORD wasn't listening to your prayer? Therefore, He doesn't care about you nor loved you?  God gave me the words below to share with you.   "The  Lord, have made a covenant of love. He does not care about you as a mortal cares about you. He cares about you vastly more than even you care about yourself. He

The Reward of Persistent Prayer

Image
[Jeremiah 29:12-13 (CJB)]: "When you call to me and pray to me, I will listen to you. When you seek me, you will find me, provided you seek from me wholeheartedly;" Dear Ladies, I write this blog with you and the many prayers that you have prayed in mind. Luke 18:2-5] "In a certain town, there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected other people. There was also in that town a widow who kept coming to him and saying, 'Give me a judgment against the man who is trying to ruin me.' For a long time he refused; but after awhile, he said to himself, 'I don't fear God, and I don't respect other people; but because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see to it that she gets justice - otherwise, she'll keep coming and pestering me till she wears me out!"  God is not a cruel judge. When we persist in prayer, we are not pestering Him! Jesus told his disciple this parable, in order to impress on them that they   must always keep praying   a

What Happened on the Cross? A prayer for you

The Judean leaders had asked for removal of the bodies on the cross because the Sabbath was approaching. The Roman centurion came to break the legs of Jesus but he was already dead. To ensure Christ was dead, the Centurion pierced his heart. At that moment, blood and water flowed out of Jesus' heart. The water poured out first. Then the coagulated blood oozed out, rolled down His side, onto the ground, and the disciple John bore witness of it (John 19:17-37).  His heart ruptured. The blood payment was made for atonement of our sins. Jesus said he was our living water. His living water cleansed us  and made  us holy. He paid for our sins with his own blood, not the blood of bulls, and goats. The price paid was the same for everyone. But not   every sin   is the same. Stealing a candy bar is NOT equivalent to murdering a person.  Each time we confess our sins and repent, we are forgiven. But Satan attempts to return to us the sins that has been given back to him. He knows how the sac

Hope in spite of the trials

Image
" I have said these things to you so that, united with me, you may have shalom (peace). In the world, you have trouble. But be brave! I have conquered the world! John 16:33" The last two and half years have been surprising, hopeful, yet difficult and troubling.  There are times that we do not know where this life will take us.  I learned that the LORD, our God, will work within the trials that are caused by the broken world we live in.  We were promised by Jesus that we would have trials and tribulations in our lives. He told us to be brave! Jesus said to his disciples, who scattered, each one looking out for himself, and left him all alone, "Yet, I am not alone; because the Father is with me."  Don't let yourself be upset or frightened. Don't let yourself be disturbed. Trust in God. You might battle a rough sea and a headwind of things in your life that seems to be beyond your control.  But, the Lord is with you. Do not allow your struggles blind you from

Peace in the Midst of Chaos

[Philippians 4:7 (CSB)]: "And the peace of God, which surpassess all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Peace always. Peace is freedom from disturbance. Is this possible? Yes, because the Lord himself gives you peace, always in every way. Christ provided His disciples and us a legacy of peace. He said, "What I am leaving with you is shalom (peace) - I am giving you my shalom. I don't give the way the world gives. Don't let yourselves be upset or frightened. [John:14:27 (CJB)]" Many may wonder why there was no immediate world peace after Christ said this. Jesus was indeed fulfilling his promise, but not all at once. Peace does not come to those who refuse it but to those who receive it. Within every true follower of Christ Jesus there is peace from God himself. When the Messiah (Jesus) returns to rule with a staff of iron (Rev. 12:5; 19:15), he will then compel cessation of hostilities between all nations and all groups of peopl
